4th African Medical Tourism Congress kicked off in Tunis

(TAP) – The 4th African Medical Tourism Congress, started Friday in Tunis, with the participation of doctors and experts from over 20 African, European and Asian countries. It was attended by Health Minister Ali Mrabet and Tourism Minister Mohamed Moez Belhassine.

The goal of the two-day event is to promote Tunisia as a favorite destination for medical tourism.

The conference seeks to increase coordination between various stakeholders and establish solid partnerships in order to consolidate Tunisia’s positioning as one of the main destinations for medical tourism and thalassotherapy in the Arab region and in the world, the Health Minister said.

Mrabet called for developing partnerships between Tunisian and African institutions operating in the medical field, pointing out that the digitization of health projects and the use of new technologies in medicine and pharmaceutical industry are likely to consolidate Tunisia’s tourism potential.

The event will help share expertise and experiences as well as build fruitful partnerships between the different stakeholders so as to develop the export of health services, namely healthcare and well-being services and promote the pharmaceutical industry, the same source said.
